We're moving
Or at least I'm moving. Soon. Definitely b y the end of next week. Well, okay, maybe sort of today.
Yes, when I make a decision, I do it right now. New link: http://knittingwizard.typepad.com

I've been smacked
Well, my friend at my LYS smacked me today. I was informed that my blog isn't readable because I don't have an RSS feed. Looks like I have some research to do and the blog may be moving.
On an entirely unrelated note, I bought some books from Amazon for work. (Just as an FYI, Amazon irritates me. Just on G.P.) List on them was $99.99 and I got them for $68 including regular shipping, which they call 3-5 days. I bought the books the afternoon of Wednesday, November 17. They shipped late Thursday, November 18. They arrived at 4 p.m. today, Friday, November 19. Boy, am I glad I didn't pay for next or second day shipping. And work will be very happy when I have my lovely reference books on Monday.
Short rows
Short rows have surfaced again on the Ample Knitters mailing list (and this is not a bad thing). I've long been an advocate of using a three needle bind-off for all shoulder seams and had something of a discussion the other day with someone who said you can only do a three needle bind-off when you don't have to do any shoulder shaping.
Not.
This link will point you toward Japanese Short-rowing with a fantastic explanation. I'm really looking forward to doing a set of shoulders with shaping so I can work this really great technique.

I feel so worthwhile
I'm worth $2,411,258.58! How much are you worth?

Wowsaroonie!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled knitting to bring you this breaking announcement.
I received an invitation to the Illinois Inaugural Gala on January 19 at the Grand Hyat in Washington, D.C. Are we going? You betcha baby. At least to the ball, although probably not to dinner also (since the husband needs a tux and I need a new dress and the tickets are a tad pricy). Looks like it might just pay to be from Illinois.
And I think they got my name (based on the address) from my alma mater, Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.

Liking the new layout
I really do love the new picture. And I love the flower and I love the way the whole thing scrolls. Change is good. Yes, indeedy, it is. (Remind me of that tomorrow, please, when I'm at my new bullpen-type desk on the 7th floor. I'll need reminding somewhere around that point.)
Gracie's poncho is finished. Just needs to be washed and blocked. Yippee!!! Tiffany's poncho isn't started. I must finish at least two other projects before I face yet another poncho. Hers will be different, however, because I'm going to go from the bottom up. Not only can I not face another poncho, I really cannot face another poncho using the Exact. Same. Pattern. Yuck.
Then there's the lovely weather pixie. I don't know why it says rain because the sun is certainly shining out of my window. Oh, well. Such is life.
People were most impressed by the lace yesterday. Of course, then they were appalled that I'd done 48 rows and only had the teensy tiny thing pictured below (which was around 36 rows, I think). Hee hee. When working with tiny yarn (or four-ply), the end product is worth the effort. People also enjoyed fondling my tencel and I think my tencel enjoyed being fondled.
This is my Sunday on call, so no yarn store today for me. Just sitting next to the phone and maybe ordering pizza out.

The Promised Knitting
So, did I knit on Gracie's poncho today? No.
Did I knit on my Clapotis made from the Debbie Bliss Soho? No.
Instead, I received a handful of patterns from Sharon Miller yesterday and I picked up my yarn (thread) and started one of those because my first love is lace. So, without further ado, I present my progress on the Spring Shawl. This is supposed to be made using cobweb on size 1's. I'm using 10/2 tencel, in the color Tussah, on size 0's.
This is a picture of the current, very unblocked lace:
And here I've stretched it out to give you an idea of what it's going to look like when it's blocked.
Unlike a lot of Sharon's patterns, this is lace knitting (so far). The middle triangle has a plain row between each patterned row, so it isn't quite as hairy as it could be. I'm looking forward to the edging, although the idea of picking up stitches along the edges of the triangle has me a little intimidated right now. I am sure I'll recover, though.
We don't need no knitting
Although today is a knitting day, yesterday was decidedly not. I had been triple booked with a hair appointment, the Knit Before Christmas, and a company-sponsored dinner at Marrakesh in downtown DC. Guess which one won?

And this is the motley crew that I was hanging with. Honestly, they are one of the best groups of people I have ever worked with (and Lord help you if you're incapable of defending yourself).

And where am I you ask? I'm behind the camera, of course.
Knitting content tomorrow, I promise. I want to finish Gracie's poncho today (I'm at the cast off) and I want to make some Clapotis process (from the new Debbie Bliss Soho). I promise to take pics of both!!!

Who knows
Somehow, I don't know how, my lost post from yesterday ended up under 10/28. Go take a look at a serene Phyl-Phyl holding my hairy caterpillar.

Argh!
Motime just ate my long, picture-laden post.
I'll fix it later (like tomorrow). I'm going to go knit since I'm a techie-dweeb first and a knitter second and the new laptop has been occupying all my time.
However, thank you, SP3! and here are the pics from the lovely giftie.
